Panel of Guest Speakers: Juliette Healey successor to Paul Fullerton, Agent for the Bank of England
in Yorkshire & The Humber, Neil McLean - Chair of the Leeds City Region LEP,
and Tom Riordan - Chief Executive of Leeds City Council.
Juliette Healey, Agent for the Bank of England in Yorkshire & The Humber
Juliette Healey is the new Agent for the Bank of England in Yorkshire and The
Humber. Her primary role is to assess and report to the Monetary Policy Committee
on UK economic conditions as seen from the Region. She is also the Banks's senior
representative in Yorkshire & Humber for banking and public relations matters.
Juliette joined the Bank in 1986 and has had a wide range of jobs including roles
relating to monetary policy, financial stability and the foreign exchange market.
While at the Bank she has done two secondments, one to HM Treasury and one to
the International Monetary Fund.
Juliette is married with two children and is a keen sailor.

Neil McLean, Chair of the Leeds City Region LEPNeil was, until recently, the Managing Partner of DLA Piper's office in Leeds,
the largest office in EMEA outside of London. DLA Piper is one of the largest
law firms in the world, having very successfully developed from its Yorkshire
base over the last 15 years to now incorporate 3,700 lawyers in 28 countries and
66 offices around the world. Neil also sat on the firm's UK, European and Far
Eastern Board together with the Remuneration and Audit Committees until January
2009.
By discipline he is a Real Estate lawyer and has been citied as one of the North's
leading Real Estate lawyers for well over 15 years. He has been the Yorkshire
Property Lawyer of the Year on two occasions and was Yorkshire Lawyer of the Year
in 2008. He was named "Yorkshire Lawyer of the Decade in 2010 and 2011 at the
Yorkshire Property Awards was named as Property Personality of the Year.
Neil has been a valuable supporter of the regeneration and redevelopment of the
region, its commerce and industry and is regularly consulted by the media on commercial
and economic matters of interest.
He is currently a director of the Leeds York North & North Yorkshire Chamber
of Commerce and also Chair of the Board of Governors of Leeds City College one
of the largest F.E colleges in the UK. Both of these roles give Neil a clear
understanding of the needs of the regional economy and the issues and opportunities
for identifying and delivering the regional skills identity.
Neil has recently taken up the position of Chair of the Leeds City Region Local
Enterprise Partnership of which he says:
"The new partnership will bring along the opportunity to prove the difference
private and public sector collaboration can really make to our economies at these
difficult times. I am very happy that I've been given the opportunity to represent
the private sector as the Chair of the Board and I am looking forward to contributing
to the development of the new partnership".
The Chair and the Board wiil be responsible for developing the business case
for the Local Enterprise Partnership. The Chair will take a lead role in delivering
the Partnership's proposals and oversee the process to a fully operational status.
Neil has worked in Yorkshire for all of his professional life and is currently
a resident in Harrogate.
Tom Riordan - Chief Executive of Leeds City CouncilTom was appointed as Chief Executive of Leeds City Council in April 2010 and
took up the position in August 2010. He has considerable public sector experience
and is the youngest Chief Executive in the history of the council.
Tom was born and educated in North Yorkshire and graduated with a Modern History
honours degree from Trinity College, Oxford in 1989. He joined the Civil Service's
fast stream management scheme and progressed quickly through a variety of jobs,
specialising in environmental policy and representing the UK in international
negotiations on climate change and endangered species.
Tom gained a first class Masters in Business Administration at Imperial College,
London in 1997, specialising in regional economic developement networks, and returned
to Yorkshire with the task of setting up the Regional Development Agency for the
Government Office. Once Yorkshire Forward was successfully established, he became
Chief Executive in February 2006.
Tom is a member of the NHS Future Forum. Tom was previously Co-Chair of the
Government's national Ethnic Minority Business Task Force. As one of Bradford
University's honorary graduates in July 2008, Tom became a Doctor of Letters.
He is married to Louise, has two children Joe and Amy and is a keen footballer
and Middlesbrough supporter.
