Giles Fearnley
Giles has spent his entire career in the passenger transport industry, starting
with Sheffield Transport Department in 1972. At National Bus Company privatisation
he was appointed Managing Director of West Yorkshire Roadcar Company and in 1991
he led an MBO forming Blazefield Holdings. He headed Blazefield as Chairman until
its sale to Transdev in 2006.
In the mid 1990’s he took a sabbatical from buses to become Chief Executive of
Prism Rail Plc but returned to the fold on that Group’s sale to National Express
in 2000. He served as Chairman of the Association of Train Operating Companies
in 1999/2000.
In addition to remaining with Transdev as Blazefield’s Chief Executive, other
interests include being Chairman of both Grand Central Railway Company and Journey
Solutions, the bus/rail industry initiative to promote integrated ticketing and
Deputy Chairman of Abellio, a German bus and rail operator. Giles is the 2008
President of the Confederation of Passenger Transport UK.
